The Manas National park is a famous wildlife parks to visit while you are in Assam. This is another world heritage site declared by UNESCO besides the Kaziranga National Park. Known mostly for its elephant reserve, a Biosphere Reserve and a Project Tiger reserve this park is a hotspot for tourists visiting the region. The name of the park is originated from the Manas River, which is named after the serpent goddess Manasa.

The Manas river is a major tributary of Brahmaputra River, which passes through the heart of the national park. One can also expect to find several of the rare and endangered endemic wildlifes here in this park such as the elusive Assam roofed turtle, the hispid hare, the golden langurs and the pygmy hog.

The park timings for tourists are from 8:00 hours to 17:00 hours in the evening. For safari the timings are from Morning: 9:00 hours to 12:00 hours and in the evening from 14:00 hours to 17:00 hours. An entry fee of twenty rupees is required for Indians while for foreigners it is two fifty rupees. Expect to shell out one twenty rupees for jeep safary if you are an Indian national and rupees seven fifty if you are a foreigner.
